My Lesson

My Lesson

A Poem by karina y

So stubborn not enough consideration.
Words slice instead of accommodating
this shaky heart,
cold hands, broken lungs.
Blame-game champion
no sympathy for your needs.
And it could have hit me then, instead it
strikes me now.
Not because I'm hurt, No.
I can finally comprehend the words I couldn't fathom then.
And in those two seconds, I should have (inhaled-exhaled).
Perturbation a priority, I'm sorry there was not enough space.
For discernment, no time to pick out the puzzle, and solve it.
No space for sympathy, respect, no space for love.
I'm not sorry that it took me so long to learn.
We don't learn fast,
I'm just sorry, so sorry,
that you were the price of this utterly expensive lesson.

splendid. You have summed up with few words what is, I guess, one of mankind's paramount failures, a rush to judgement. Thank you. Yes, these lessons can be expensive, indeed.
