Maymoon’ s mother was real busy in the kitchen, dashing from one end to the other, one moment chopping onions, next she would grab the Soya Sauce for the mushrooms.  MayMoon thought to herself, “my mother works so hard every day, to make meals for everyone and grandmother and grandfather, I wish I could help, if only if I could learn to cook”.

 

Maymoon turned to her mother, “ Can I help, I am little but I am also a very clever girl, I can learn very quickly , if you teach me how to cook”. Mother, turned back stopping all her work at once, she smiled, it is not time for you to cook yet, you can play and read your books, now. But MayMoon was very determined and would not give up easy. “Perhaps your Grandpa will teach you how to cook, he is just reading a newspaper, I am sure he will teach you”, said mother, continuing  her generous smile.

 

 

MayMoon , was only a little girl, could hardly reach the top of Grandpa’s seat as he kept reading his papers. MayMoon grabbed, Grandpa’s pants, just to get some attention, saying, “Will you teach me how to cook, I am a very clever little girl and am very quick to learn”. Grandpa did his best not to laugh very laud, “Cooking is the job of women, I have never learnt to cook, I am sure some day you will be a great cook, why do you not ask Grandma, she is a very good cook”.

 

MayMoon, was a very determined girl and was not for giving up easy. “Grandma, will you tell me how cooking is done, I am very quick to learn”. ....

 

 

MayMoon was a tiny sad in the afternoon after she had her meal, she could see the cat in the patio, napping like the rest. MayMoon started talking to the cat. “I may be little, but I am growing up very fast”.  MayMoon said to the cat.  The cat was very puzzled, as to why should a little girl talk to her. “Ah, Miaooo” said the cat, “ it is all very easy, cooking is real easy, its just them adults turn it  in to rocket science”. Cat suddenly headed towards the kitchen and jumped on the kitchen table. “ you need tomatoes” said the cat, “they must be chopped”. ...

 

 

MayMoon, in the kitchen, snatches the wobbly stool, as she climbs towards the kitchen, table, holding a vegetable knife. “Then I suppose I just crack the eggs is that correct”. The cat interrupted MayMoon, “don’t forget to the cumin seeds and some soya souse”. ....

 

 

 

The odour of omelette stretches all through the house in the afternoon, Grandpa is the first to wakeup first, “Ammm, I have never been so peckish so early in the afternoon, funny about that”.
