i can't play the piano to save my life, but it is my favorite musical instrument

i've never played the piano,
in years, since you became deaf
from listening when your heart
is far from listening to me,
don't be startled if we meet
and i don't say a word,
my love has a strong voice,
up my mind, beyond the stars,
so i'll just whisper goodbye,
which i hope you don't hear,
i don't want to hurt you,
even if, between us,
you've always been the loud one,
the stronger, i can't stand
for anyone to hear a heart break

selective hearing---and it is heartbreaking when one doesn't want to listen to us anymore...

and we hope that person can't hear our heartbreak...but i am sure he or she does...and probably hears those notes as we hit the keys of regret.
