A Poem by highonwords

i've listened well,
i'm still listening,
not only are your words,
alone, without you,
your heart has left you,
your words, you, your heart,
i listened to all of you,
no one made a sound,
the silence was all
that was needed to say
you've nothing to say,
it was all we needed,
to say goodbye,
without saying goodbye,
we were over each other,
in a way we won't know
what to say, if we ever,
without hope, meet again

this is one of your best newer poems -- it describes perfectly the leaving of love before the door is slammed.

thank you, my friend, for the comment and compliment and visit :)

everything else often leaves before the person physically moves out...

and when it happens this way, there is little to say if they meet again...conversation drained and strained.
