My creative writing teacher hates cheesy, typical, 'teen love' poems without extended meanings. But he loved this one. :3

I decided I'd lock my heart up tight
and throw away the key
but damn it all, you had to fight
and fall in love with me.
A sweet surprise, indeed it's true
unwelcome at first- but now
my heart has fallen hard for you
I wish that I knew how.
I'll say this- I think it's fair
don't make me lock my heart-box
or next time, I won't be there
to open if someone else knocks.
