Sweet Bird of Insanity

Sweet Bird of Insanity

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

O sweet bird of insanity,
How you hover and peck at me,
Petulantly,
Trill incessantly
Dawn till dusk.
Clicking your talon-nails
Castanet-like
In a frenzied fling,
How you cast your net like
A fevered zoologist
Or lepidopterist
Ready to pounce
On a poor, damaged specimen:
Witlessly wary-less,
Specious, bespeckled man,
Humbuggered speck, no less,
Carcass for sale.
O to caress again
Sweet dove insatiable,
Sweet and unstable love,
Roc unsurpassable,
Hecklethrush mine!
