Zodiac

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Taurus and Aries--unstable admixture,
The Bull and the Ram,
Fire and Earth.
A spadeful of Earth can smother Fire,
Unbridled Fire can scorch the Earth.
Together they seem to guarantee
Mutual, utter annihilation.
The Bull is obscure; it hides its intentions;
It jealously guards its cache of jewels;
But the Ram plows up the secret dimensions,
Illuminates crypts and their fossilized fools.
The Ram is intellectual;
The Bull? It cannot severalize
A work of Arp from Van der Ast.
The Ram is stubborn--it wants its way;
So does the Bull. It seeks to rule
Its fenced domain. It snorts and chases
Interlopers, and may gore anything
Blocking its path.
The Ram and the Bull are incompatible,
Yet that dissonance does not stop them
From grazing together.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
