A charming state of readiness

A charming state of readiness

A Poem by Witty Fay

Small ants,
Average ants,
Taking their time at life,
Deprived of any passions
Or ambitions,
Silently striding the floor
In pompous show.
Cautiously sniffing the caramel
On my skin,
Able at fighting their craving
For sugar,
Eluding the imminent crush-
Round, inquisitive eyes
Raise the veil of the day-
What am I to them?
