Was Reason Right?

Was Reason Right?

A Chapter by Wondering Mind

Widowed wishes wail;
whales weeping
          in a deep ocean
             of immersed emotion.
Too many whys
                  killed a when
in a mindless game of reason.
                                    With time,
     treason tainted trust.
Hopelessness haunted horizons,
once painted in rainbows
of childlike dreams.
The child died,
the colors faded,
grayed.
Turned slowly
to empty black
and
lifeless white
                           Was reason right?

i really like this....
"Hopelessness haunted horizons,
once painted in rainbows
of childlike dreams."

i'm not sure of the true meaning behind the poem, but the feeling i get from it is one that i have experienced in different ways and varying degrees... reflection on actions and choices

this is simple and complex at the same time... and i still has me thinking.. (it could also be that it is a little after 6am and i haven't had coffee yet)

Very thought provoking and creative piece WM. Childhood dreams shattered by reality... reason. Reason is always right. The problem is how we reason, not because we do. If reasoning says "yes I can, no matter the circumstance" ....well then the child just might live after all.

A pleasure to read and ponder my friend. :)

I am glad I decided to take a break and read a poem. This poem was wonderfully written and so much depth. This thought provoking piece is probably my favorite of yours thus far. I enjoyed these lines;
"Too many whys killed a when in a mindless game of reason With time", This was a poem itself. Great write I will return I enjoy your work so.

'Twas reason killed the inner child and slaughtered innocence in its wake. Ripped the rainbows from the skies, left hopelessness in its place. this is a beautifully penned piece of what we can lose to our logical and thinking selves upon our adulthood. responsibility can certainly have a way of weighing us down so hard, that we can no longer even remember, let alone locate, those wonderful things about being young. there are still rainbows about, but as we grow, we need to take the time to look for them.

You know... I wish you were here or me there... talkin' poetry...
Cause I'd ask you, "where do you pull your poetic depth from ...?
I'd ask you to explain your expressive brilliance and to allow me into your world .

You are a wonderding mind, with a wonderfully powerful poetic verse.

your words:
"Hopelessness haunted horizons, once painted in rainbowsof childlike dreams. The child died, the colors faded, grayed.Turned slowlyto empty blackand lifeless white "

WOW.
I love this my friend!
