unfantastic fantasy

A Poem by Louise Wu
"

poem iii

"
a day it rained
light
sprinkle falling to the cake of earth
then into the oven it goes
baked by the sky's light
happily
i saw a path spread
of red,
orange,
yellow,
green,
blue,
and purple,
mystified, i walked that bridge
crossing for my treasure
hoping for a leprechaun
with pots and pots of gold,
then
i saw the line that met half way
splitting one side from
the other,
curious, i crossed
in hope of finding wealth
my foot reached itself
over
suddenly,
bolts of electric silver and yellow
whipped across the pitch black sky,
clouds hurtling in together
followed by a
blistering shower,
colored ground from underneath
grey took them over,
dead black vines wrapped up my feet,
swallowed my ankel,
dragged me closer
closer,
an elfish creature all dress in black
with spiked white hair
red eyes and a sack
giggled with its
high pitched evil
the gold,
golden bubbles boiling,
boiling in his evil cauldron
where
wheres the fantasy
wheres the rainbows real other end?
is this all a myth as well?
a fantasied good,
and fantasied evil,
and me,
i was trapped,
trapped on the side
of unfantastic fantasy.
