Me

Me

A Poem by CD

I sit and I stare at the face in front of me

Leaning forward I wonder who it could be

Looking deep in the troubled eyes I'm surprised to see

After many minutes of studying very intently

I know that the image is me

I stand to look out the window towards the sunset

Instead my gaze averts to someone I know I have met

She looks blankly and all doubts have fled

I turn from the reflection and leaned against the wall instead

Though I hate what I see...

I know that image is me

I look through a journal and see words I don't understand

Though the scrawlings of entrys and poems were written by my own hand

I want to go back to that person but somehow I can't

Page after page until I came to words i sadly comprehend

Writings of my life I wish wouldn't be

I know that image is me

Closing my eyes I hope to shut out the past

I cry out inside wishing I could take it all back

All the memories remind me of what will last

I look to a picture of pain and confusion my mind forces me to see

And I know that image is me
