Feather Soft Floor

Feather Soft Floor

A Poem by Rayne Stanton
"

...

"
Love in small doses, brightness surrounds the room

stuffed with the smell of sympathy, walls the color of gloom

feathers soft as silk creates the floor under our feet

lie at the base of the tree caught in eternal sleep

watch you lie across the room unable to reach

desperation covers the light filling our eyes with eternal night

the spill of fire across the feathers surrounding your love

the fire of guns and screams for you my protection wasn't enough

if not for me you wouldn't be here on the silk

the roses shone bright, desperation light, begins to wilt

chains that held me back break free as I pull toward you

I crawl to reach, hold your face in my hands like I used to do

wonder and amazement fill my eyes as I stare

your peace stricken face with the pain disappeared

beside you on the feather soft floor, fire hair through my fingers

run my hand down your cheek for a moment there lingers

I only wish that you could still be here

no matter how long your gone, I'll always love you my dear.

This reminds me of being in a position where I couldn't save the one I loved and I had to watch them drift into the afterlife only I reach them to late and now I have to wait for my own passing to reunite with them. Your words are beautiful and descriptions tight in this write.
