Denial is not the name of a river in Egypt!

Unless, somebody says so on reality TV!

I’m a Professional Mud Wrestling Fan!
Where, they sling more mud around!
Where everything is just fake news!
There is no proof, that I am a thief!

No proof that I stole the election!

No proof elections even matter!

No proof, of anything to gain!

No proof, I ever had sex with that woman!

No proof Professional Wrestling’s rigged!

And, of course, no proof that I ever know what I’m doing!

United we stand, divided we fall, right on the voters collective asses!

Author's Note

For over ten years I informally surveyed people, only to discover that not even Harvard law students knew the simple distinction between a lynch mob and a democracy. When I pointed out their votes no longer seemed to matter, the only suggestion anyone had was to "Vote the Bums Out of Office!"

Your poem speaks to what I've seen grow worse in my 51 years--the laziness and indifference of the American people. Unless it interrupts what's streaming on their mobile phones, TVs or delays time at the drive-thru window, they seem uninterested. How else do we explain a population that elects Jesse Ventura as a governor, Al Franken as a senator, and the recent substandard Presidential candidates? Well captured in this brief poem!

America doesn't have a two party system anymore, with everyone voting for whoever advertises the most in virtually every election and, then, voting the bums out of office. When you can no longer identify that you have identified nothing, you have personal problems.
