I have been smitten by the great red eye,

Have held the Dark Lord's name up high,

Now ..

I must save myself from public glare,

Lest at my reptilian eyes they do stare ...

Quite revealing and engaging: the words sparkle with grim darkness that seem to jump right out of the page and into the reader's mind ... except that last line, can't help letting it dig into my ribs.
