Paradise

Paradise

A Poem by Claire

I'm sitting here alone
Not ready to let go but too tired to hold on
They say this world is paradise
That there's no place better
When there actually the ones living in a fairytale with billion dollar houses on private islands
While we're sitting here wondering if our parents died in a mass terrorist attack
There out sunbathing on a cruise
While we're here watching our friend get caught in the middle of a gang crossfire
There buying their tenth car just so they can have one at each of their houses
They say our generation has it good
When really they have no idea what we go through each and everyday
We wonder if we'll make it home alive
Or if another kid will bring a gun to school
When there are people teaching kids to solve their problems with violence
They say we have it good
But there the ones living in their own paradise
