Yours Forever

A poem about a girl who is very special to me.

I gave you my heart all broken and battered
But you didn't seem to care it didn't seem to matter

You took it anyways
You didn't seem to notice
How slow it beat
Or how it was out of focus

You cared for it well
But didn't notice how far i fell

Four months later you handed it back
I took it with a smile
Even though it was hell
I was crying inside
But I didn't seem like you could tell

When I finally looked down at that heart
I started to cry
Because it was then I realized
You gave me wings I needed to fly

For my heart was no longer covered in bruises and cracks
My heart was alive it wasn't hard to tell
It beat so fast anyone could see it was well

I noticed one day when I was about
to give my heart away to another
That your name was all over it
I mean it was completely covered

It didn't take long for me to understand
That the day I gave you my heart
I gave it to you forever
So don't try to give it back again
I don't want it back
Not ever not never
It's yours forever
