Ruins

Ruins

A Poem by Kelli Wyatt
"

Friday, July 25, 2008 [[Written after watching the movie, The Ruins]]

"

The cool morning air
Sun shining on our backs,
we have only here to run.

These wounds healing,
they run quickly along,
avoiding for their own life.

This will be the truth of us,
pouring from our chest,
that we didn't mean it.

Crawling from the bottom,
it claims light and honesty,
mocking the screaming voices.

Crying for help,
saying it was an accident,
and pushing away for what is best.

Here, I will rest at last.

I feel at a disadvantage because I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the movie! I did however greatly enjoy this piece, and felt it was powerful and very well written.
