Spring

Spring

A Poem by Kelli Wyatt

"
A cloud of ash
It covers the sky
No sunlight
Will win.

Darkness consumes shadows.

The leaves of the maples
Fall silently
Despite Spring's promise
And blessing.

Roots wither.

But winter receeds,
White fangs bared.
Violent storms,
Seemingly gone.

The winds howl.

Eyes will water
Rub them awake
The promise of Spring
No longer in sight.
