Friend

Friend

Say hello to the big white elephant
We don't know his name,
but we certainly know his face.

He's a bulky friend,
who doesn't know when to leave.
He sits upon our shoulders, waiting.

His frustration fuels mine,
but seeled lips will tell nothing
as my friend grows.

Quickly we lose his face.
Our memory is fading.
And realization tells me this:

An imaginary friend he may have been,
but was only that,
and only sat upon my shoulders.

About
I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
