within the shadows

within the shadows

a new light

not dim nor bright

it shines within the soul

no one else sees or knows

words circle in and out

leaving behind not a single doubt

the shadows call to me

but they do not reach

i concentrate and stay upon my feet

people taunt and they may laugh

but it is to them i turn my back

into the shadows i fall

unseen but standing tall

to the people of hurt

i throw up my emotional wall

the wall may stand

but alone without comforting hand

takes a toll on even the strongest of man
