The Arrogant Sun

The Arrogant Sun

A Poem by Zoe Leah
"

It is so hot outside and this person is challenging the sun.

"

How dare you

You egotistical ball of fire!

All you flex

Is your boundless heat

I will not opt out.

Even your sharp rays

And blazing white light

Are not enough

But

I am so very tired

No!

Yes.

No...

Go ahead.

Stare down at me!

Shine all your brightness

At me!

I will never

Give in.

But

It is so very hot

And I am so very tired

Ha!

Nice try you shamed globe of hot air!

Look! A cloud is coming your way!

It will surely protect me from all your vicious power

Thankyou cloud.

I always liked you better

No don't leave!

Please!

I beg you!

Is it something I said?

Forgive me!

And now I am defeated.

For the vigorous sun

Has stolen the moisture

From my body

Sucked it dry.

A smooth stone

Has replaced my tongue

And it is so very hot

And I am so very tired

And so very

Very

Very

Very

Very thirsty

You have won the battle

My arrogant foe

But I will see you again

Tomorrow

For a rematch.

I can just picture someone arguing with the sun like that! :) And right at the end, as they toddle off to find shelter, their thoughts are on the next day's battle...
Nicely done indeed! :)
