About Me
I'm Abby Pullan, a 21-year-old poet from Yorkshire, currently in my third year studying English Literature and Creative Writing. My work has appeared in several literary magazines as I continue to build my growing portfolio.
My poetry is driven by a fierce belief that verse should make you feel something profound and immediate. I write to cut through the pretension and intimidation that often surrounds poetry, creating pieces that grab readers by the collar and refuse to let go. My aim is to bridge the gap between the page and the pulse, crafting poems that speak to raw human experience rather than hiding behind academic distance.
With a focus on contemporary issues and emotional honesty, my voice emerges from the tradition of Yorkshire's direct, unflinching literary heritage whilst addressing the urgencies of our current moment. My poetry aims to demolish the barriers that keep people from connecting with verse, proving that poetry can be both intellectually rigorous and viscerally accessible.
Currently building my portfolio whilst completing my degree, I continue to explore how poetry can serve as both mirror and megaphone for the complexities of modern life.
