Overcoming Challenges Deep and Dark

I have lived in struggle, fear, and the dark, 

yet always on the other side have found a cheery lark,

waiting, calling out to me, helping me through all the grime and evil,

And I never will forget how I won a feeble battle against the enemy:

A bully so mean I could find no remedy.

But then I heard my friend the lark and it gave me courage to raise the bar.

So I stood up, raised up, stepped out of line

And in that moment I realized:

No sword or shield could protect like this,

Just have a good friend in every midst.

Now listen friends, and listen well, 

For this may just save you from the same fate and spell,

Keep a friend close at all times, 

And open up when you feel down in the grime.
