A Chapter by Tina Kline

The bedroom fire was going nicely so I left the room and went out it to the living room. It was so cold I shivered. I went to one of the windows in the living room and gazed out. More snow was falling. The dark sky was becoming lighter. Dawn was happening. I heard coyotes yapping and an owl whooting from a nearby tree. My dream returned, wispy tendrils coiling in my mind. Yes, something about the nearby lake. Suddenly I wanted to walk to the lake. It was a twenty to thirty minute walk from the cabin in the snow.

I slipped back into the bedroom. Roger was snoring softly. I gathered several layers of clothing I had folded on a chair and went back into the living room. I dressed, slipping the key to the cabin into my jeans pocket, put on gloves, stocking cap and scarf. I headed out into the icy, cold silent world of snow.

I get a strong sense of cold from this, a cold that's more than physical.

Captivating story full of strangeness, perhaps brought on my cabin fever.
