6A Chapter by Tina Kline“What's wrong?” I jumped. Roger had come into the room. “What makes you think anything is wrong?” I asked, feeling irritated with him. I missed my life in Seattle. “You cried out.” “Well, I was napping. I had a bad dream.”
“Don't get up so early and wander about the snowy forest. It's
dangerous. You understand Stacey?” Roger nodded and left. “I have work to do.” he said as he went out the door. “Like I care.” I whispered. Sometimes he went into the little nearby town to do his work, the stuff he couldn't do on his lap top. The wolf was still howling. The lone wolf. It seemed louder, as if the wolf were coming closer. I scooted over to the edge of the bed and looked out the window. It was still snowing. The snow was deeper, covering everything until all looked like soft and gently rolling bumps and lumps. The sight of the blood red lake come to my mind. As did the mysterious figure. I wanted to return to the lake to see if it was still there. I wanted to taste the liquid, to see if it were thick and warm like blood. I wanted to see this mysterious figure up close. Talk to him. I'd decided it was a him. I didn't know why, I just did. I wanted to get away from Roger.
