Chapter 10

Chapter 10

A Chapter by Tina Kline

Mr. Black and Louise passed through the Misty Grey Veil and came out on the other side into the Human World. It was a bright, very warm summer afternoon and Mr. Black and Louise found themselves in a rural area. Small birds twittered in the spindly branches of the tall thin trees. Dogs barked in the distance and the sound of passing traffic rose on the air like a sickly hum. They were close to human habitation; there was no doubt about that.

Louise took a deep breath and smiled, “Humans are close by.” She said softly.

“Yes, they are. There’s a cluster of them living together. You can hear their ever present dogs.”

Louise laughed softly, “It’s probably some kind of trailer court. White trash is what the humans call those who live in them. But I don’t care. I’m very hungry.” She placed her hands on her lower abdomen. “So is our unborn Wolf Child.”

“Let’s go then.” Mr. Black led the way through the grove of tall thin trees with all sorts of tall plants growing amongst them until they reached the edge, which didn’t take very long. Through the thin branches they could see a trailer park. It was shabby and run down looking. Outside one several small children played on a rusty swing set that looked dirty and very unkempt. Several more sat on the dusty ground doing something. Skinny non-descript dogs ran in the street. Dead trees stood in several yards along with rusted out cars and trash in general.

Mr. Black made a small mocking sound, “Humans don’t care much for themselves or their own kind, do they?”

Louise shook her head sadly, “No. Not many, anyway. It’s always take take take with humans. A few want to rule the many.”

“Wolf People don’t live that way.”

“Ours is a better world and I’ve lived in both so I can say that. Wolf People have their problems, true, but nothing near the scale of the problems humans have.” She took a deep breath. “Shall we hunt humans now instead of talking about them? I’m so eager!”

“Yes. This group of humans will do just fine, I think.” Mr. Black said.

“Yes they will!” Louise shape shifted into her ash colored Wolf Form and Mr. Black shape shifted into his dark Wolf Form.

Let’s go kill us some humans, Mr. Black said to Louise telepathically.

I’m ready, she sent back to him.

Side by side the two surged forward, heading straight toward the run down trailer park to kill and eat a human.

The tension in Miss Starfire’s house was thick, bordering on oppressive. Mr. Hunter was furious at Mr. Thunder’s intrusion in what he was planning on doing with Miss Starfire. And Mr. Hunter didn’t understand why she’d want Mr. Thunder around anyway. Didn’t she want to enjoy the pleasures they could be enjoying right now? He growled softly, wanting to let his Wolf out and drive Mr. Thunder away.

Mr. Stalker could show up at any moment and Mr. Hunter knew he’d not get his chance to Mate with Miss Starfire if he did show up; he’d have to wait for another moment. Mr. Hunter wanted her to have his Wolf Child and wanted to work on achieving that without delay.

“How’s it been living here and being Mr. Stalker’s Mate? I’ve wondered but haven’t had much chance to see you.” Mr. Thunder asked Miss Starfire.

“It’s been fine.” Said Miss Starfire, feeling awkward talking about this since Mr. Thunder had wanted to be her Mate but she was glad he was here right now. “I can’t complain.”  She looked at Mr. Thunder and wondered how her life would be right now if she’d chosen him. But it didn’t really matter; she hadn’t really wanted him as her Mate nor Mr. Redwood.

“I’m glad things worked out for you in the end Miss Starfire. Good thing we got you away from Mr. Redwood.”

Miss Starfire looked away from Mr. Thunder, not wishing to remember all that mess. Mr. Redwood was dead and so was Armand’s Mate Miss Fern. Both decapitated for kidnapping her.

“You’re bringing up bad memories for her Mr. Thunder.” Mr. Hunter said.

Mr. Thunder looked from him to Miss Starfire. “I’m sorry Miss Starfire.” He said.

Miss Starfire smiled, “Its okay. It’s not like it’s a secret or private or anything.”

Mr. Hunter could barely stay in his chair. He wanted Mr. Thunder gone so he could Mate with Miss Starfire, force her if she didn’t surrender to his needs. He felt like he was going crazy with his need. In fact, he was sure he was.

Mr. Thunder could easily tell Mr. Hunter was strained and close to a breaking point. Because of that he didn’t want to leave Miss Starfire alone with him. What’s up with Mr. Hunter, Mr. Thunder wondered, and Miss Starfire looks distressed herself. Where’s Mr. Stalker? Dare I go get him and tell him he needs to get to his house and Mate or should I force Mr. Hunter to leave? Would it be safe for me to leave Miss Starfire alone with her Wolf Brother and go get Mr. Stalker? Hmm. I just don’t think so.

“Well.” Miss Starfire stood up. Mr. Hunter and Mr. Thunder both jumped to their feet. “Shall we get out of here and run in the forest?” Miss Starfire couldn’t stand just sitting in her house with these two Wolf Males. The tension in the room was suffocating her.

“Yes!” cried Mr. Hunter. Good idea Sister of Mine. I can easily get you alone in the forest.

Mr. Thunder saw the eager spark in Mr. Hunter’s eyes. This was good news for him, Mr. Thunder thought. We should go by the Meeting House and visit Mr. Stalker. They won’t know it, of course, but I’ll agree to the run just to get us all there so I can talk to Mr. Stalker. “Okay Miss Starfire. I think that’s a great idea.”

Miss Starfire smiled brightly at them both.

A soon to be werewolf kill and a mess for Miss Starfire to figure out. Perhaps Mr. Thunder can start the solving of this problem.

It's looking like Mr. Thunder is going to put as end to bad boy Mr. Hunter's behavior. I'm enjoying your book.
