The Weight Of What I Left

The Weight Of What I Left

A Poem by abbypullanlitandpoetry

I'm so infatuated I cannot breathe through skin, Your cartographic face haunts morning's fractured light. I left you in bewilderment but why remains within.

Each synapse fires memories till vertigo begins: Your scrunched smile, those fault line creases holding tight. I'm so infatuated I cannot breathe through skin.

I stumble bedward where love sickness spins, Roll foetal, seasick in sheets' endless white. I left you in bewilderment but why remains within.

One melody loops obsessively, begins Again: your fingers promising infinite sight. I'm so infatuated I cannot breathe through skin.

Like labyrinthine tubes where London's blood runs thin, We interlocked, a map of wrong and right. I left you in bewilderment but why remains within.

This madness metabolises oxygen, thins My reason to a thread stretched taut and bright. I'm so infatuated I cannot breathe through skin, I left you in bewilderment but why remains within.

I like this a lot.
The language use is excellent
The metaphor is clear but not confining
I would like a better sense of rhythm and structure
But I’m very happy to have seen it and will read it again.

the repetition of that line builds this to a crescendo that is almost overwhelming.
Love can definitely thin our reason.
Really strong poetic justice done to the idea of how love just takes our being over.
