Here is one of the reasons I don’t let all go of writing even when I feel I only evolve sluggishly in it. This is making me investigate further— my absurd passion for poetry and the absurdists that hold it down.

Absurdism has a special place in my heart because sometimes life is undeniably absurd. Maybe it just seems that way because we don't have the insight in that moment but... it doesn't change our reality, some things will always seem absurd. One of my least favorite books that I still occasionally re read anyway is The Stranger, it's not why I like Albert (the plague is actually a good book I think) but it induces an absurd feeling... I don't like it, but it does jar the reader into questions they simply would never ask themselves otherwise. Eventually in most if not all of our lives, the world will be asking us questions we will find absurd and extremely difficult to parse. If I had to imagine a less absurd scenario where Albert Camus didn't die in such an absurd fashion and finished his intellectual arc... I think he would have found his own work absurd (but would still never admit to being an absurdist... that's absurd... he probably would say)
What an Amazingly absurd write. Loved this Jacob
I know I can be rather absurd in most of my writes just being absurdly honest from one absurdist to another
This is delightful — beautifully meta and self-aware, both poking fun at and paying homage to the chaos and clarity of poetry. Your lines blur the line between satire and sincerity in a way that feels wonderfully honest, like a wink from one poet to another in the dark. There's a clever rhythm to your thoughts — the crystal that "does not sparkle with sane logic," the senryu-as-legislation metaphor, and the intentional redundancy of loving poets "no matter how absurd that sounds" — all working together to elevate the very absurdity you’re embracing.
It reads like a manifesto and a confession at once. Poets are absurd — gloriously so — and your poem celebrates that truth with warmth and sharpness. Loved it.

I have been teaching writing for 31 years and can spot it quite easily. Just admit you used it and try to give more human responses.

Well Jacob, it is never good when you are just going about your day and out of nowhere get slapped by a herring, red or otherwise, but as you may have surmised I do like a bit of absurdity in my readings and writings. The more the merrier fact.
And I do love to miscount syllables and intentionally get haiku and senryu wrong, while getting away with it buy calling them sillybles.
But I totally get what you're mouth-typing and agree with you, I love poetry too, despite it not always loving me! 😃
Good morning, J. Absurdly Absurd caught my eye and reading through, I began to think things again.
True, poets and poetry can be Absurdly Absurd...Yeah! What Pete said! lol. I love it!
Great writing!
