What are they thinking the cohoots?

**Conversations in the Forest**

I see them both in conversation,
voices floating through a distant air.

“What will the world say?” someone whispers.
My mother answers softly,
“I know you are fine.”

“What will the family say?”
My husband smiles gently,
“You are fine.”

My son’s voice shines the brightest:
“Mom, you must be…
and I am glad.”

Yet I stand far from their reach,
lost within a thick forest of thought�"
towering trees guarding the silence.

Along a narrow track
a car keeps moving forward.
Inside it ride Santa.
my childhood lover,
my boyfriend,
and my husband�"

singing together,
*“Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way…”*

The melody fades into mist.

This is all I remember.

And somewhere beyond the trees
a truth rises quietly:

The real culprit was fear.

Whoever carries it
