What for

What for

A Poem by Linda alexander

Toiled for decades and cut corners of  my own comforts
Dreamed and dreamed for the brighter days
Now all came to almost a big mess
What was that tiresome journey for

I looked at the dark sky for few bright stars
Stars told me we are dying and have died already
I looked at the eyes of the close ones
I could see few stars arising very slowly

I looked at my own mirror to see sparkling light
Yes to see bright stars in my own bright eyes
I could see dullness of the dead fish eyes
What for all those years of toiling and sweating

I looked deep down and deeper than I could dive
I saw something which was way precious than anything
That was the journey to find myself and true self
I saw a diamond sparkling in my heart which was still supple

if we look past the shallow reflections, deep down inside ourselves...we will find some reason to live and smile....it's just finding that within ourselves , that is the trick.
