Normal

Normal

A Story by Linda alexander

Alex was twenty five years old when his car hit the post and he died. He was doing double shifts most of the time. His disabled mother compelled him to work during moon light frequently. All bills were paid in time and there were lots of friends and relatives at his house often.
A regular guy working hard and living his life as if everything normal. His sleep was cut short always to four hours or maximum five hours. Chores to do at home was plenty including grocery shopping, cooking and laundry. He helped his mother to keep medical appointments which was monthly and at times more frequent. She was a patient with diabetes and congestive heart failure.
No one saw black dog entering in to his life. He even might not have known about it. Slowly it was eating him and his colorful days. Did he hide it well or he did not but no one knew for sure.
One Sunday morning he was going to church and his car hit the post and he died on the spot. It was an accident to many and weather was inclined for sure. He was normal to all but the new normal he was missed by all. Some people who were close to him believed he committed suicide and perhaps with depression. They grieved way more than others and blamed themselves for not recognizing it.
Normals are everywhere but invisible most of the time. New normals are never found. To be abnormal is the key to survive . Rest in peace Alex.
