You will be missed               by Sami Khalil

An English sonnet…

No rhyme to life, no glory to behold

You will be missed when joy of living tears

Find us in great agony and perils told

For those who can survive ruthless storms’ fears.

Some live another day, others succumb

When death occurs, thoughts become emotions

Rambling incessantly to endless thrum

For when bells ring, you hear thus commotions.

Life is ephemeral, flickers and shines

Never shall be when the angel dares call

Off into the well, we see moral signs

Say adieu for the departed withal.

The best thing to bestow humans is love

Leaving mother’s comfort legacy, kind of.

Dear Sami

What beautiful words: a heartfelt eulogy to human struggle and fragility, but also a declaration that love is the lasting legacy of all our existence.

Thank you for your words

Feels like holding someone's final words in your hands. It's graceful, dignified, and filled with reverence for the human journey—from birth to passing. The final couplet, especially, lingers in the heart like a quiet benediction.

Sad and deeply moving. Nothing like maternal bonds and its ripping much like the umbilical severed at birth we/thy leave life's berth and the missing ensues. 🕊️🙏🏻

I read this a couple to times, I see different meaning everytime and yet on stuck. A lesson, we shall never dwell on what had passed and some old tradition and habits, some of it holds us down, they were guides to bring you joy and love not boundless responsibility, never to forget to love and respect yourself before giving it freely, if you do that the rest will follow, I hope, I know it's a hard battle but we know we can. You are great brother.

When death materialized aftermath is portrayed in very powerful way. I can relate to this as I went through this storm. Fear, tears, agony, perils of suffering and all bestowed in love. My refugee word was majestic grief and it partially built and destroyed me. Very powerful writing.

I wholeheartedly agree.
For me this poem is technically a little "off"...

Some of the lines work but then the ending is a little imbalanced....

Having said that, i can still appreciate the sentiment here and the imagery is still present with lines like ephemeral flickers and shines..

#overall an interesting read...thanks for sharing..
