Little bird

Little bird

A Poem by Soren

Little bird, painted friend, from your throat a song that floats I know you from long ago
Coming from another life when I was the bird and you were a young wife
I loved you then and I love you now but I will never hold you somehow
Your feathers are too bright and your song too sweet we were never meant to meet
Dreams dissolve in the morning light, all that you left me is a feather from your flight

This made me shed a tear, made me think of my grandmother on her deathbed. There's something so achingly beautiful about the recognition across lifetimes, that sense of knowing someone from before but being unable to bridge the gap. The way you've woven the bird imagery with love that transcends time but can't be grasped is heartbreaking. That final image of just a feather left behind captures the bittersweet nature of memory and loss perfectly. The rhythm flows like a gentle lament. Thank you for sharing this. Well done. AP x.

Reincarnation here? It appears the speaker is addressing a bird and recalling a previous life. It also seems their connection then was attended by sadness, as the speaker remembers feeling their meeting was never meant to be. Well, be patient. You've probably got a slew of incarnations where you'll feel more confidence.

Your poem reads like something ancient and eternal — soft-spoken but deeply emotional. It would sit beautifully in a collection of poetic reflections on love, longing, and transformation.

Both poignant and beautiful in its meaning. Some things aren’t for the catching. They are best left to the freedom of the skies. Lovely metaphor here Soren.
