The Hospital

The Hospital

A Chapter by Stephie.Santi

Walking past the hospital on her street, the lights in the oncology wing brought her back fourteen years. She was sitting in a plastic chair, paper cup of hot chocolate growing cold on her lap, watching the machines that kept her father alive.
She remembered squeezing his hand, and how he had whispered, "Whatever happens.. you're strong enough"
   She hadn't believed him then.
she remembered the sound of the nurses voice calling her name, the empty corridor, the way the floor use to swallow her small feet.
Even now, memories like this rose up unbidden, pulling the panic from her chest into her throat.
Her phone stayed dark. By the time she got back to Willow Street, she felt a familiar buzzing in her chest, a mixture of love, fear, and anticipation. She went straight to the bathroom. The mirror waited.

I like the continuation of the situation involving her dad. They must have been close. I'm interested in this so far.
