The Text That Changed Everything

   Back in her apartment, Sophie paced the narrow hallway. Her phone felt heavier than it should have.

   Don't text him.

   Don't beg.

   

   Don't disappear.

   She failed all three.

   Sophie: Did I do something wrong?

   Three dots appear... Then vanish.

   Her chest tightened.

   She sat on the bathroom floor, back against the tub. Watching the door like it might leave too. Then, another message came.

   Evan: No. I just need a quiet night. I care about you.

   Care...

   The word both saved her and terrified her.

   Sophie pressed her forehead to the cold tile. She wanted to believe him, she wanted to feel safe.

   Instead, her emotions began to rise- fast, loud, and tangled.

   Love turned into fear.

   Fear turned into anger.

   Anger slid into shame

   

   She stood.

   The mirror caught her.

You're allowing your readers in fill in the blanks and that's excellent. But ironically, i want more. its easy to state that she shouldn't push, but she needs do much to feel safe that she probably cant help herself.
