The Chain Of FateA Chapter by S.G.BurnsChapter 1As Charlene fell asleep, she had awakend in a very mysterious island, with purple trees, blue volcanoes, and red kangaroos that had gills and flippers, jumping like dolphins in the lake behind her. "What the f**k?" she whispered to herself.
She shook her head to get back to reality, but when she looked around, everything seemed the same. She still felt like herself, but, in a totally different scenario.
"I've gotta be dreaming" she thought to herself.
Charlene walked into the jungle with the purple trees for what seemed like forever. As she was walking, she saw a blank white sheet of light, as if someone had cut her vision right at a border in the ground. She had no idea what it was, but she figured since she was in a dream, she'd might as well go ahead through it. Who knows? Maybe she'll wake up.
So she walked through the light, and in a blink of an eye, her body was evaporating into the sky. Her body felt like it was tingling with numbness, her mind went totally blank, and she thought for an instant, she saw a hand reaching toward her in the light. She was scared, so she grabbed it, as it looked very comforting to her. When the hand took her, it was as if it were helping her down, as she stepped off a stair. When she could start to get her vision back, her numbless body felt normal, and she felt like herself again.
As she walked out of the light, she came to a small little village it seemed.
"whoa, man, what the hell's going on?"
She started towards the village, hoping to find some answers, but it was if she were completely invisible. She tried to touch a person, but the instant the villager felt her presence, he would walk away. She was so desperate, she even tried punching someone. No one even knew she was there ...
"WHAT THE HELL'S GOING ON?!" she screamed out loud, and everyone stared at her.
"You shouldn't be using a curse word, God won't like that" someone with a cheery voice said behind her.
"Excuse me? I can use any word whenever I --" she stopped in her tracks when she saw the face. It was absolutely beautiful. She was very pale, with flowly curly blonde hair. With crystal blue eyes that seemed to pierce into her mind. Her lips were full, and her figure was that of a super model. She was absolutely goregeous.
"I'm sorry, but here, if you use any 'bad words', you could get punished."
"What? What are you talking about? Where am I?" she pushed out of her throat.
"You are here, in limbo." The girl said.
Charlene practically choked on her laugh, "Limbo?! What kind of crap is this? I've never had a dream about limbo, it's not even real."
The girl just looked down at her feet. "Were you in any type of religion?"
Charlene was quite shocked by the question, "Well my parents were prodistants, but I never believed in any of that. I don't believe in anything."
The girl looked up at her, "Then you chose the right path. But your beliefs are wrong. No religion is right, they're ALL wrong. But God is real. He chooses who he deserves to be up in heaven with him, and he chooses who deserves to be with his fallen angel."
"Fallen angel? You mean Satan?" Charlene asked.
"Yes."
"Well this makes practically no sense at all. So pretty much, everyone who takes their whole life into a certain religion is basically wasting their precious time, correct?"
"It's not all a waste. If it makes you have hope, and belief, and if it makes you happy, then I'd consider it to anyone. God just wants you to live a happy and healthy life."
"uhh -- okay. So, everyone here is dead?"
"Pretty much." she said, looking down at her shoe again.
"So, if this is all real, do you know how I died?" Charlene asked in disbelief.
"Well, what were you doing last before you came here?"
"I walked into my bedroom, closed my door, changed into my pj's, and hopped into bed. And fell asleep."
"Then that's how. You must've died in your sleep. At least it wasn't long and painful. Alot of people died in a painful situation." She said at her shoe. Charlene was getting annoyed.
"Well okay, so if I'm dead and everyone else is dead, that means you are too."
"Yes, I am." She said looking up with her eyes wide.
Charlene could tell the girl was getting upset. "How did you go belly-up?" She asked in a joking tune.
"Well my Tariant had strangled me."
"Uhh ... Tariant? What's that?" Charlene asked.
"You don't know what a Tariant is?!" the girl seemed suprised. Charlene was starting to think this girl was a little crazy.
"You know, a Tariant; she gave birth to you, looked after you, who --"
Charlene had cut her off, "Oh! You mean a mother?"
"Is that what they call them on your planet?"
Charlene's eyes went wide, "my planet? Yes, of course on my planet! Where the hell are you from, the sun?"
The girl winced at her swear, but ignored it and answered her question, "Actually, I'm from Venus."
"Come again?" Charlene asked, tilting her head.
"Well, you don't think God just made a planet and decided to populate just that one planet. No no no, he's made galaxys, and different planets with the same inhabitants of humans."
Charlene was very suprised. She couldn't believe her ears, "but aren't you guys aliens? little green men with an ambition on taking over planet Earth?"
"Aliens? I don't think so. We were all made in God's image, not as green goo." The girl said with a monotone tune.
Charlene looked around at everyone. Was everyone from a different galaxy or planets? Everyone looked the same, just like her, so maybe this girl was telling the truth.
"Well what about names? Whats yours?"
"My name is Miyako, the goddess of the moon." The girl said.
"Goddess of the moon? Who made you queen?" Charlene asked, chuckling under her breath.
Miyako had paused for a moment, in deep thought. Then finally said, "That's what my name means."
Charlene just brushed asside her name for a minute or two, as she stared around at the sky, and at the ground. Looking at the people in white robes. She didn't even realize she was in a white robe until looking at herself. Her hair was down, which was weird for her, because she always put her hair in a pony tail before she went to bed. Then she looked at her hands. All her nail polish was gone, and her jewlery had disappeared. Then she looked at her chest, as something was sticking out through the robe. She looked down her robe, and saw a hole in her breast. There was a thin layer of skin covering her internal organs. And she could see her lungs breathing, and her heart beating. The only thing keeping her organs in tact was that chain going through the hole in her chest. Charlene was freaking out.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?!"
Miyako looked at her concerned, "What's wrong?"
Charlene ripped off her robe, and she was completely naked, to revial the chained hole. The people around her were scrambling to find another robe to place over her bare body, "What is this?!" she said, pointing to her chest, practically crying.
"Oh, That ... well there's something you should know about Limbo ... "
