The Red Bull

The Red Bull

A Chapter by S.G.Burns

Charlene and A.J. had started for his house, which Miyako had given him.

"Here you go, madam" A.J. said in a sly tone. Charlene blushed, "Thanks bud."

Charlene and A.J. had walked inside, and Charlene's eyes grew wide. She couldn't believe how beautiful it was! The windows had purple drapes covering them, to have the kind of 'relaxed' feel to it, and the chandelier hanging from his roof sparkled and shined, as if it were JUST cleaned. The furniture was new, everything seemed perfect. The flooring was glued together with perfection, and the house was clean, which made it smell nice.

"Whoa, you're one lucky b*****d, you know that?" Charlene had boasted

A.J. laughed, "Well it's definitely a lot better then the house I had originally owned, that's for sure."

A.J. had walked in, and sat on the loveseat next to the window with the purple drapes. He signaled Charlene to come and sit beside him, so she did. She sat down, and A.J. had wrapped his arm around her. Charlene blushed, "I'm guessing this is a 'welcome to my home' gesture?" She asked, "If you want to look at it that way, then I suppose it is." He  smiled.  He had looked at her in her eyes, and she stared back. His eyes, even though they were burning red, it didn't seem like they were evil. She was just thinking that some people just have different eye colors, that's all.He was leaning in closer to her, as they were practically touching noses. They were about to kiss until they heard some screaming coming from outside. They both sprung up, blushing beat red. Charlene had snapped out of it, and started running towards the door.

"Come on! We've gotta see what's going on out there!" Charlene said nervously.

A.J. and Charlene had come running out of his house, to stop in the center of the village. She heard the screaming, but wasn't too sure where she heard it from.

"There! Charlene, up there!" A.J had said, pointing to the sky above them. Charlene looked up to see a man screaming, and eating his own ears. Charlene felt like hurling at the sight. "What's wrong with him, A.J.?" Charlene asked in fear, "I don't know Charlene, but I can only guess that it's just like what happened to the guy who we saw last time." A.J. explained. Charlene felt he was right, but then, the strangest thing happened. The man in the sky had wings! He must've been an angel. The black hole had appeared behind him as he was screaming, and a few bull-like monsters came out of the hole with black wings. They seemed to be trying to rip off the angel's wings, "Leave him alone! That guy didn't do anything wrong!" Charlene had screamed up to the bulls. One bull looked down at her, and ripped off the angel's wings, to show that he was doing this whether she liked it or not. Then, a grey shadow with a white figure came rolling up into the sky. He had grey wings that looked deteriorated, and stood infront of the bull monsters. The grey figure had a glowing white sythe, and swung it at the bull with the angel's wing, "Whoa! what's that?" A.J. asked, "I'm not too sure, but it seems to be helping the poor angel." Charlene guessed.

The grey figured had spoken in a low tone towards the flying red bulls, and had said, "Leave this man alone. He has not finished his test. You are breaking my rules." and that's when Charlene knew, that must've been Death! Miyako had said that Death was the ruler of Limbo, so that must be him!

"This man has broken your mighty rules. We have a theory that he had not passed the 6th test. He does not deserve to have ownership of these wings." The bull had said, holding the wing up to Death's face, "I have the rights to decide when the test is finished. This man passed the tests, in the time I put the oil on his forehead. And I have accepted the fact that he finished the pervious tests with success. You have no right to take his wings, he has earned them. Now give me the wing, and leave this man alone, before I strike you down back to your lord."

Death had seemed to be very serious about this. The bulls seemed to growl at him, "Don't think we won't be back, foolish Death, we shall consult this with our lord. We'll be back." And the bulls had fled into the black hole, and the wing was falling to the ground, along with the man, straight to where A.J. and Charlene had been standing. A.J. and Charlene quickly ran out of the way, and just before the man's wing and himself had hit the ground, they hovered over the ground. Death must've been using his powers, or whatever he had. Death showed up in a blink of an eye standing rinfront of the angel. He was crying, and bleeding, and Charlene thought he didn't deserve what happened to him, "Young apprentice, you did not deserve what has happened to you. I know you cannot hear me, as the demons had made you rip out your ears and swallow them down into the pits of your stomach. Because of this terrible scene, you have passed this test, and I am jumping you to the last test. You have a good heart, and you deserve both your wings, and both your ears. I feel you will become a god, along with our lord. Please accept your wing back." Death had held out the angel's wing and the angel had taken it. The wing had glowed in shimmering white, and had disappeared into his arm, that seemed to flow to the back of his shoulder blade. The wing grew out his back, as if it never even got taken off, "Thank you, master Death. I am truly grateful. But I'm afraid I could not hear your speech, or why you have given my wing back to me. I wish I knew why." the angel said, "Don't worry my son, you will live, whether without your ears or with. But that is for god to decide, as he has more athority over I, when it comes to your body. Either way, you'll adjust to your new body. I wish you the best, my friend." Then Death had disappeared.

The man had flexed his wings upward, and flew back into the sky, as if nothing had ever happened, "Whoa," A.J. had whispered under his breath, "Do you think we'll ever have wings like that, Charlene?" Charlene looked up at A.J., "Well, Either way, I'm sure we'll be having wings. But I'm almost positive we'll have angel wings, bud." She said, smiling.

Even though she seemed positive, she was majorly having doubts. She had no idea if they would make it, and she didn't even know if she could even handle this kind of stress. But she wasn't about to tell A.J. that, she figured he'd been scared enough already. and who wouldn't? No one has ever seen anything like this before, and it truly was scary.
