June 20,5:00A Chapter by swiftie17
"My little girl's all grown up now, travelling on her own..I can't believe it!" My mom says in that voice where you sound like you're crying, but you're not.
"Come on,Mom.We'll be OK." She might have said something like,"It's a literal FBI mission, there's no guarantee you'll be safe," but obviously, if she says that in the airport, we're cooked. "Stay safe, girls.Bye!" "Bye,Mom!" I look back and watch my mom revving up the car, leaving the airport. "Come on,Ari.There's no looking back now. We're gonna be late for the meeting!"Zara whispers the last part in my ear. We're 7 hours early, but this is the one situation where Asian mom airport logic actually makes sense, because now we're standing in line for check-in and a lot of people are flying to New York today(probably because school's out for the summer) and that, combined with people from the other flights, will result in a mile-long queue at TSA.And then we have to meet our Chief at the airport hotel. I hope we get through the queue fast.
